Growing up a preacher’s kid and a church member since the age of 11, I thought I had a pretty decent grasp on scripture – that is until I enrolled in New Testament 101 at Western Kentucky University. What was supposed to be an “easy A” radically changed my life. God used the class to teach me how little I knew. Though I was saved and was always at church listening to my dad (Elder Timothy Binion) I didn’t have a desire for personal study and hadn’t realized that God demanded more than my soul but also my mind. For the first time, the intellectual aspects of Christianity created a new love for scripture.  Professor Dr. Joseph Trafton, the best teacher I have ever listened to, wasn’t preachy but he brought the scriptures to life and left a hunger for more.  I ended up getting an A and working for Dr. Trafton teaching other students the Bible the rest of my college experience. For the past 10 years, I’ve been teaching the Strong Hold Sunday School Class at Victory Missionary Baptist Church. Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:7, “Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding”.  My prayer is that anyone reading these blogs will think over what I write, the Lord will give understanding, and in all things Christ be glorified.
